5 under 5 syns - Chocolate Treats
Hey friends, I'm having one of those spells lately where, as soon as 9pm hits I'm dreaming of bathing in a sea of chocolate, and just HAVE to find something chocolate based before I sleep. So this inspired me to look up some chocolatey treats that won't break the syn bank.
Having scoured forum after forum, I must say I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are plenty of choices out there. Here are 5 of them which I feel will satisfy a chocolate craving most completely and without too much of a "still hungry, need more!" vibe.
1. Options / Cadbury Highlights Hot Chocolate (2) , topped with 10 mini marshmallows (1) Total: 3 syns
This is my number 1 choice for a reason. It's not something you just hoover up in a split second (I'm looking at you, Maltesers) It's a slow sipper, pure indulgence ... and then the marshmallows get all gooey and UGH, just delish. Also, how comforting to drink! Invest in a big ol' mug, and a jar of this heaven and get stuck in.
2. Muller Light Goodies - Smooth Toffee Flavour: 2.5 syns
I tried this for the first time this week. Since the usual Muller corners were so high in syns, I was pretty excited to see that this low syn alternative were out! These really feel like a desert. Not as creamy or as chocolatey as the muller corner, but definitely enough to stifle a craving. There are other flavours too, it'd be a crime not to try em all!
3. Chocolate Orange Mousse: 1 syn
This is a spin on the chocolate mousse recipe from the slimming world website, which you can find here:
Per serving ingredients:
- 20g of quark
- 100g fat free natural fromage frais
- 1 tbsp sweetener
- 1/2 sachet Cadbury Highlights
- Rind of an orange
- 1 drop of orange essence
ALTERNATIVE to orange essence:
Add a teaspoon of Choc Shot Orange Spice for 1 extra syn.
Instructions: Mix the above ingredients in a bowl, pour mixture into a glass and pop in the fridge to chill. Leave it as long as desired (at least an hour) and enjoy!
4. Mini Milk Chocolate Lollipops: 4.5 syns
Apparently it is Summer. Did you know? If you get a rare sunny day and you're dreaming about a Magnum, this just might be the second best alternative. Mini milks have a special place in my heart since childhood, and these are a surprisingly chocolatey treat.
5. Chocolate Mug Cake (1) and Alpro Chocolate Soya topping (2): 3 syns in total
There are quite a few slimming world friendly chocolate cakes out there, this one is super quick to make in the microwave with only a couple of ingredients.
My recipe was 2tbsp raw cacao powder, tbsp sweetener, 2 egg whites, chopped apple and a dash of unsweetened almond milk. Whisk in a cup and microwave for 1m 15 seconds.
Then top with dark chocolate alpro soya yoghurt, 2 syns.
Have you guys tried any of these? Let me know if you agree or have any other gems to try!
